About CCRAS

The Central Council for Research in Ayurveda & Siddha (CCRAS) is an autonomous body registered on 30th March, 1978 under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860. This Council came into existence after bifurcation of the erstwhile Central Council for Research in Indian Medicine and Homeopathy into four different Research Councils.

 

The Council is fully financed by the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is an apex body, in India, for the formulation, co-ordination, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda and Siddha Systems of Medicine.


The Council is governed by the Governing Body with the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare as President, and an eminent personality in the field of Ayurveda and Siddha as Vice-President. The Governing Body is assisted by a Standing Finance Committee, Scientific Advisory Committee (Ay.), Scientific Advisory Committee (Siddha), Clinical Research Sub-Committee and Drug Research Sub-Committee.

 

The Council carries out its objectives and functions through a network of 40 Research Institutes, Centres and Units functioning under its direct control in different parts of the country, and has its headquarters at New Delhi.
