Effect of traditionally used Ayurvedic Rasa aushadhis on renal and hepatic functions: clinical and experimental study

• To assess kidney and liver function tests of patients on treatment with (a) Siddh makardhwaja for joint disorders (Rheumatoid arthritis)   and (b) Arogyavardhini vati for dyslipidaemia.
• To estimate level of mercury, lead, cadmium and arsenic in blood and urine of patients, who are on treatment with the above ayurvedic rasa aushadhies and correlate their hepatic and renal function test parameters.
• To estimate levels of urinary metallothionein, β-2 microglobulin and correlate with renal function tests and level of heavy metals in urine.
• To administer graded doses of Siddh makardhwaj and Arogyavardhini Vati in rats for 4 weeks and evaluate hepatic & renal function tests and correlate with level of heavy metals in their blood.
