1. What are the career opportunities for Ayurvedic Graduates?

Ans. The following opportunities are available for Ayurvedic graduates.

 

  1. Can practice Ayurveda independently.
  2. Can join as an Ayurvedic technical expert in the Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Industry and other related institutions.
  3. Can join NGOs who are working on health care delivery systems; in research institutions like CCRAS, ICMR & CSIR etc as JRF, SRF and consultants etc.
  4. Ayurvedic graduates who have PG qualifications can opt for the teaching profession in academic institutions and also in Research Organizations like CCRAS in the Research Cadre.

2. What are the business opportunities for Ayurvedic industries?

Ans. Ayurveda is an indigenous system of India and nearly 70% of its population use the traditional system of medicine. Consumers of Ayurvedic drugs are increasing day by day in India and outside India, and growth in the consumption of herbal medicine is significant. Presently, a numbers of Ayurvedic products are being exported as nutraceuticals and health care products.

3. What are the career opportunities for allied sciences in Ayurveda?

Ans. Many allied science graduates from Botany, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Phytochemistry, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Sciences etc. are engaged in Ayurveda Research. They have good career opportunities in Ayurvedic drug research, drug development, drug standardization etc.

4. What Institutions are engaged in Ayurveda Research?

Ans.

  1. Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha- Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha engaged in Literature Research, Drug Standardization, Survey of medicinal plants, Toxicology/ Pharmacology studies and Clinical Research Programs, etc.
  2. Pharmacopeial Laboratories and Drug Manufacturers -
    1. Pharmacopeial Laboratory for Indian Medicine, Ghaziabad
    2. Indian Medicine Pharmaceutical Corporation (IMPCL), Mohan, Almorha
  3. National institutes like National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar, Banarus Hindu University, Varanasi and other academic institutions.
  4. Others: National Medicinal Plants Board
  5. In addition to these, many laboratories under Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (IICT, IIIM, CIMAP, CDRI, etc.), Indian Council of Medical Research (NIN), Defence Research and Development Organization etc. are also engaged in the research on Ayurveda.
  6. Many private research institutes/ organizations/laboratories/ industries are also engaged in the field research in Ayurveda.

5. Is there any career opportunity for Ayurvedic graduates outside India?

Ans. In many European countries, US and other countries, Ayurvedic academic institutions are being established. There are a lot of career opportunities in areas like Education, Research etc.

Ans. There are 219 colleges offering Under Graduate courses in Ayurveda (BAMS), 52 colleges offering Post Graduate courses in Ayurveda (MD/MS). Universities like Banarus Hindu University, Varanasi, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, Rajastan Ayurved University, Jodhpur, N. T. R. University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur etc. offers Ph.D. courses in Ayurveda.
