2nd Forum for “Research & Development Strategy for Traditional Medicine Development”

A team lead by Honourable Union Health Minister, Dr. A. Ramadoss attended the 2nd Forum for the “Development of Traditional Medicine” with the theme of Research and Development Strategy for Traditional Medicine held at Daegu from Oct 20-23, 2005 at Daegu Exhibition and Convention Centre, Korea.

Delegates from 15 countries and WHO attended the Forum. The Hon’ble Minister delivered the comprehensive speech pertaining to the importance of AYUSH systems of medicine and to bring them into mainstream & their scientific validation.

The Hon’ble Minister also stressed upon the positive features of the Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy which includes their diversity and flexibility, accessibility throughout the country and given its broad acceptance by a section of the general public, it's comparatively lower cost, low level of technological input & the growing economic value. The Indian system of medicine also provides tried and time tested methods. These systems form the basis of traditional medicine.

International Trade Fair, Fiera-Del-Leventa at Bari, Italy

Director CCRAS, New Delhi lead a delegation to the International Trade Fair, Fiera-Del-Leventa at Bari, Italy in September 2007. . The Ayurveda and Siddha systems were presented in the pavilion by displaying digital posters, publications on Indian System of Medicine and related sciences as well as classical samhitas. Department of AYUSH participated at this Fair and their exhibition of materials generated great interest.

The National Indigenous Healthcare Exhibition and Symposium at Colombo, Sri Lanka

Officials from The Department of AYUSH participated in the premier nature friendly indigenous National Healthcare Exhibition organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) held for the first time in the country in association with the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, Ministry of Tourism, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Export Development Board in September 2007 at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), Colombo.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2006

Director, IIHM Hyderabad along with officials from the Dept. of AYUSH participated in Frankfurt Book Fair 2006 from 4 - 8th October ‘06 at Frankfurt, Germany. The Council displayed old manuscripts, Council’s publications, leaflets, posters and brochures detailing activities and achievements of the Council.

International Congress on Traditional Medicine and Materia Medica, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Director, CCRAS, New Delhi participated and delivered a lecture on ‘Evidence Based Ayurveda’ in the International Congress on Traditional Medicine and Materia Medica, (ICTMMM) held at Malaysia on July 17-21st 2007.
