Dr. Vijay Kumar is currently working as Research Officer (Chemistry) and Department Head का Chemistry Section, Central Council for Research in आयुर्वेदिक विज्ञान (सीसीआरएएस), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi. Presently, he is posted at Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS-CARI), Gwalior Road, Jhansi (U.P.). His roles and responsibilities mainly include to execute the research & development activities under including IMR/EMR/Collaborative mode as per the mandate of institute and direction of parent organization. He is the top cited Scientist of Ayush Ministry with H-Index – 50. He is among the World top 2% most influenced scientists from 2022 onwards as per list of Standford University and Elsevier, and only scientist of Ayush Ministry in this list. His Lab has produced high impact articles with impact factor 25. Dr. Kumar Research vision is the “Bridging traditional knowledge and modern science through rigorous analytical research, quality standards and translational innovation”.

He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Chemistry) degree from Lovely Professional University (Punjab). He is gold medalist in M.Sc. and Ph.D. He has qualified CSIR/NET, GATE and National Fellowship (RGNF)holder.He started his career as Analyst (Quality Control)with world top class pharmaceutical multinational company M/s CIPLA Ltd., where he haslearned about the production, quality control of pharmaceutical products and faced various audits including WHO audits. In Government sector, he started his journey as Assistant Plant Protection Officer (Chemistry) with Ministry of agriculture, Govt. of India, in the year 2014, where he has learned about the quality control and techno legal work of pesticides as per Insecticide Act, 1968. During this period, he worked at Central Secretariat, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, under the guidance of highly experienced top officials including Senior Secretary, Director, and Plant Protection Advisors, and he gained experience on administrative and technical skills. He got appreciation for his excellent work during special complaining “Punjab Pest Control Management Task Force for Quality Control”. He got Young Scientist Award 2021 (Society for Climate Change & Sustainable Environment), and Distinguished Scientist Award 2022 (National Environmental Science Academy). He got “Excellence in Academic/ Research Award” 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2023 for his incredible achievements in R&D.

He joined the Central Council for Research in आयुर्वेदिक विज्ञान (सीसीआरएएस), Ministry of Ayushin the year 2017, asaResearch Officer (Chemistry) at Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Gwalior. He was parallelly deputed to Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS-CARI), Gwalior Road, Jhansi, for the development of Quality Control Labs, Pharmacy and NRDRLabs. In year 2020, he was permanently transferred to Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS-CARI), Gwalior Road, Jhansi. He is the key player in the development of world class quality control labs including the significant role in the development of pharmacy and NRDR facility at CCRAS-CARI, Jhansi. Due to his extra ordinary efforts, Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS-CARI), Gwalior Road, Jhansi, has established full facility within2 years and achieved NABL(ISO/IEC 17025: 2017), and DTL accreditation with in six months. Presently, Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS-CARI), Gwalior Road, Jhansi, is the only institute whereall parameters of ASU formulationsespecially heavy metal, pesticides, and aflatoxin analysis are performing inhouse. He got appreciation from Director General for his excellent work. He has organized and part of various training programs, where more than 200 trainees/ scholars has been benefited yet. 

He has been actively involved in IMR/EMR/Collaborative research projects as Principal Investigator (more than 20) /Co-Investigator (more than 30). He has completed more than 15 projects including DST-NIF project. Premium institutes likeCSIR (IIIM -Jammu, CDRI-Lucknow), IITs (IIT-Gandhinagar), and CDAC-Pune are major collaborators for his interdisciplinaryresearch.

He is well trained Scientist on analytical instrumentations (AIAT-2019 Training at CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow), quality control aspects (NABL Auditor Training on ISO/IEC 17025: 2017). He is expert in Analytical Chemistry/ Phytochemistry/Pharmaceutical/ Environmental Chemistry/ Instrumentation (HPTLC, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, UV, FTIR, NMR, Mass etc.).The key traits are as:

• Involved in Natural Products and Pharmaceutical.
• Involved in Pharmaceutical Analysis along with stability testing and invitro assays.
• Involved in Method development and characterization of pharmaceuticals including natural products from medicinal plants.
• Involved in Product Development, Nutraceutical and Phytopharmaceutical.
• Involved in Establishment of sophisticatedinstrumentation & accredited labs as per the regulatory guidelines like NABL/ DTL/ WHO/ D&C Act.
• A strong publication record in top-tier journals.
• Proven ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, and collaborations with industry partners, and academics (CSIR/IITs/IISc/NIPER/CDAC etc).

He has published more than 200 research papers in indexed journals with average impact factor 6.50.He is the UGC-MHRD Content Writer for graduation and master content of Chemistry. He is Editor/ Associate Editor/ Guest Editor/ Reviewer of various SCI indexed journals. He is member of various Societies (ACS, RSC, ICS, AFST, NESA, HPTLC Association etc.). More than 15 master and Ph.D. scholars’ dissertation has been completed under his guidance.
