Dr. Debajyoti Das is an accomplished Ayurveda physician, researcher, academician, and public health professional with extensive experience in clinical practice, Ayurveda research, pharmacovigilance, healthcare administration, and community health programmes. He completed his BAMS from J.B. Roy State Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital and obtained his M.D. (Ay.) from the Institute of Post Graduate Ayurvedic Education & Research Centre, Kolkata, under the University of Calcutta. He also earned an e-Post Graduate Diploma in Epidemiology in 2025. He began his career as a Lecturer in Ayurveda and later joined the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, as Research Officer (Ay.) in 2009. Presently, he is serving at the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Gangtok, Sikkim. During his service under CCRAS, he has worked at various institutes across India including Kolkata, Chennai, Port Blair, and Agartala, gaining wide experience in clinical research, hospital administration, and public healthcare delivery. Dr. Das has been actively involved in several Intramural Research (IMR) and outreach healthcare projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator. He has successfully completed research projects related to Chronic Bronchitis, Psoriasis, Osteoporosis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Obesity, Geriatric Healthcare, and COVID-19 multicentric clinical studies. He has also contributed significantly to national outreach programmes such as the Reproductive and Child Health Care Programme (RCH-SCSP), Tribal Health Care Research Project (THCRP), and Ayurveda Mobile Health Care Programme. Apart from research activities, he has extensive experience in Ayurveda pharmacy management and quality control. As Head of the Pharmacy Department at CARI, Kolkata, he supervised the preparation and quality inspection of various Ayurvedic formulations including tablets, capsules, churna, oils, and ointments. He also contributed to drug authentication and pharmacovigilance activities under the AOGUSY scheme. Dr. Das has actively participated in numerous health camps, National Arogya Fairs, exhibitions, awareness programmes, seminars, workshops, and scientific conferences. He has delivered health awareness talks through Doordarshan Bangla and Akashvani Radio and has published more than 50 research papers in national and international journals along with several health-related articles in magazines. He has also contributed to monographs published in the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India and the Ayurvedic Formulary of India under the Ministry of AYUSH. With strong expertise in clinical Ayurveda, research methodology, public health initiatives, and academic training, Dr. Debajyoti Das continues to contribute significantly to the promotion, development, and scientific validation of Ayurveda in India.
