Academic Qualifications:

Dr. Sakshi Sharma is BAMS, M.D, Ph.D. in Dravyaguna, with 25 years of academic and research experience. She is currently working as Research Officer (Ay.) at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute, New Delhi under CCRAS (Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences) which is an apex organization in India for Research in Ayurvedic sciences under Ministry of Ayush.  

She has completed her BAMS from Shri Krishna Govt. Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra in the year 1995, securing second position in the University. She completed her M.D. from K.G.M.P. Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai University in the year 2001 and completed her Ph.D. from Guru Ravidas University, Hoshiarpur Punjab, in 2024.

Academic Experience:

She started her career in Year 2001 as Assistant Professor and served in this position till 2006. She was subsequently promoted as Associate Professor and Head of the Department at Ch. Devi Lal College of Ayurveda, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. She also served as Hospital In-charge in an additional capacity from 2003 to 2009. During her academic tenure of 8 years, she also worked as Associate professor and Head of the Department, Dravyaguna at CBPACS under Government of NCT of Delhi on lien basis during 2012-13.

Professional Experience in CCRAS

Dr. Sharma joined the CCRAS as Research Officer (Ay) in September 2009. While working at CARI, New Delhi, she handled 27 IMR and collaborative Research projects as principal investigator and co-investigator in collaboration with AIIMS New Delhi and Safdarjung hospitals based on healthy ageing, Cardiac disorders and Musculoskeletal Disorders.

Currently she is also representing Ayush system as Co-Investigator in 4 prestigious Ayush-ICMR Projects at AIIMS, New Delhi out of which 3 are under the Ayush-ICMR Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research in Women and Child Health, one is in department of Lab Medicine AIIMS, New Delhi.

Scientific Publications and Presentations

She has almost 38 paper presentations in various National and International Seminars/Workshops, as presenter/invited speaker as well as chaired and co-chaired scientific sessions of seminars and workshops.

She has 35 publications to her credit, published in peer reviewed national and international journals and one book on Dravyaguna as co-author.

She has contributed chapters to Panchkarma training Modules under the CCRAS Guideline Series III, “General Guidelines for Clinical evaluation of Ayurvedic Interventions”.

Contribution to CCRAS Tool Development:

Dr Sharma has also contributed as associate Editor in Swasthya Assessment Scale(SAS) Health Manual Development. She has significantly contributed as committee member in Development of Prakriti and Health Assessment Tools of CCRAS on fundamental Research.

Contribution to BIS and AYUSH Standardization:

She has also served in BIS (Bureau of Indian standards), New Delhi, as scientist-D during 2022-23, worked in core area of making the BIS and ISO standards in the Ayush department of BIS.

Administrative Training

She has undergone a specialized administrative training for the duration of 3 months conducted by IIPA(Indian Institute of Public Administration), sponsored by DST(Dept. of Science and Technology) during 2009-2010.

Contribution to WHO Guideline Development

Dr. Sharma has also worked as Nominated Member of WHO Guideline Development Group (GDG) for chronic Low Backpain for two years since 2021 to 2022 and contributed in Guideline development which is published and launched in December 2023 from WHO office Geneva.
