Dr. Ajay Kumar Meena is currently working as Assistant Director (Chemistry) and Programme officer of Chemistry Section, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi. His roles and responsibilities mainly include coordination of IMR/EMR/Collaborative projects, management of IPR Cell, and Drug Development.
Hecompleted his M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Chemistry) degree from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (Rajasthan). He started his career as Senior Technical Assistant in Centre for Fire, Environment and Explosive Safety, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Delhi in the year 1997, having experience in development of treatment and disposal techniques for heavy metals contaminated waste water, explosive safety and audit keeping as per the current STEC regulations on various safety aspects.
He joined the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush in the year 2006, as Research Officer (Chemistry) at Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI), Chennai. His research focused on developing quality standards, SOP, Pharmacopeial Standards of ASU Drugs. He has served as Assistant Director/Research Officer (Chemistry) at various Peripheral Institutes of CCRAS i.e CSMCARI-Chennai, RARI-Gwalior, CARI-Patiala and Ministry of Ayush. He has worked as Assistant Director, Institute In-charge for 03 years at RARI-Gwalior.
He has been actively involved in IMR/EMR/Collaborative Research projects as Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator viz completed: more than 25 & on-going: more than 10 projects. Further he is involved in coordination of more than 40 projects as Programme Officer.
He has participated in various training programmes viz NABL Assessors’ Training on ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 & ISO 17034:2016, NABL ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO/IEC 17025:2005, ISO 17034:2016, Remote Sensing & GIS, Advance Environmental Systems, Explosive safety Technology (Royal Military College of Science, Cranfield University, U.K.), Evaluation of the heavy metals & pesticide residue, Standardisation Techniques for SAARC Member States, Administrative and financial for AYUSH officials etc. Further, he has organized NABH, NABL trainings and CME Programmes etc.
He is an approved NABL Assessors as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for Chemical, Reference Material Producer (RMP) as per NABL ISO 17034 and Authorized Signatory for NABL and Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL).
He has published more than 161 research papers in International / National Journals, 08 Book Chapters in National/ International Books. Additionally, he has also presented 20 Scientific papers in International Seminar/Conference, organized more than 25 Seminar/ Conference/ Workshop/ Webinars, and attended more than 60 Seminar/Workshop.
He is a reviewer for more than 20 International /National Journals and Member of Editorial/ Advisory Board for more than 15 journals. He has supervised more than 30 students for M. Pharma/ M.Sc. and 01 Ph.D. student. He also holds Membership in Associations like Life member of National Carbon Society, Society for Ethnopharmacology and Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Association of India (MAPAI).
