The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an It is an apex body in India under the Ministry of Ayush for the formulation, coordination, development, and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda and Sowa-Rigpa systems of medicine. The origin of the council dates back to the year 1962 when the erstwhile Central Council for Ayurvedic Research was established as an Advisory body. Since then it is engaged in a wide range of activities in the domains of Ayurveda research including clinical research, medicinal plant research, pharmacological research, drug standardization, quality control, and quality assurance, pharmacological research, development of scientific tools and methods in Ayurveda, research-oriented public health care services, pharmaco-epidemiology studies, revival and retrieval of ancient medical documents and more. The activities are carried out through the efficient network of 30 institutes across the country and also through collaborative studies with various academic and research institutes, universities, and hospitals in India and abroad.
