Dr. Bhavya B.M is currently working as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Bengaluru, a unit of Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi. Her roles and responsibilities mainly include clinical research, execution of intramural and collaborative projects, proposal writing, applying for funding in various funding Institutes for extramural research works like ICMR, CFTRI etc., and management of regular OPD and Special Shalakya OPD (Eye & ENT).
She completed her BAMS degree from Ramakrishna Ayurvedic Medical College, Bengaluru in the year 2010 and She was honored with Jeevaka Award in 2009 and received First Prize from Himalaya Drug Company, Bengaluru for her excellence in academics and securing the highest Marks in BAMS, and pursued her Post Graduation in Shalakya Tantra, from Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College, in 2013, both from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru (Karnataka). She has completed several certificate courses, including ‘Health Research Fundamentals’ (NIE-certificate course) organized by the National Institute of Epidemiology, ICMR (NPTEL); ‘Introduction to Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis’ from John Hopkin’s University, offered through Coursera; ‘Introduction to Systematic Reviews for Dental Health Professionals’ from National Institute of Epidemiology, ICMR (NPTEL); ‘Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research’ from Office of Clinical Research, National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA; ‘Research Ethics Online Training (V2)’ from Global Health Training Centre, WHO and ‘Professional degree in Clinical Research’ (PDCR) and Foundation to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines from Catalyst Services, New Delhi through Distant Education in
She Started her career as a Clinical Consultant & Teacher (Dept of Shalakya Tantra) at SDM Institute of Ayurveda & Hospital, Bengaluru from 2014-2017; She has joined the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayushas a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at Central Ayurveda Research Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi from 2017 to 2018 having experience in clinical research works. Currently, she is working as a Research Officer (Ayurveda), In charge of Shalakya OPD at Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Bengaluru since 2018. She has been actively involved in IMR/EMR/Collaborative Research projects as a Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator viz completed more than 13 projects & on-going 5 projects including collaborative projects at NITM-ICMR-KAHER, Belgaum, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore, and DGAFMS, Bengaluru. Further, she is involved in coordination of various activities of CCRAS like Focus Group for clinical research in eye and ENT diseases, Development of SOPs for Kriyakalpa, Poshan Abhiyaan to Child Care Institutions (CCI’s)” formulated by the Ministry of AYUSH, sponsored by ‘The Ministry of Women and Child Development’ through Mission Vatsalya Scheme; coordinator and member of various committees of Institute like Vigilance committee, Condemnation committee, Scrutiny committee of medical reimbursement bills, Member of Inspection Cum Physical Verification, Swachhata Pakhwara, Member of Official Language Implementation Committee and Chairman of Staff Grievance Committee.
She has published more than 25 research papers in International/ National Journals. Additionally, she has also presented scientific papers in International Seminar/Conferences. organized various Seminar/ Conference/ Workshop/ Webinars, and attended more than 60 Seminar/Workshop till date. She is also awarded with Best Paper Presenter Award for her Presentation on management of Diabetic Retinopathy through Ayurveda Intervention.
She is a reviewer for more than 15 International /National Journals including SPARK, PG-STAR of CCRAS and NISCAIR, and Member of Editorial Board for 5 journals. She also holds Membership in Associations like Lifetime member of The Association of Shalaki, (T.A.S, India).
