Dr. Brijesh Singh Sisodia is currently working as Assistant Director (Biochemistry) and Institute In-charge at Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (Central Council for Research inAyurvedic Sciences, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India), Aamkho, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
He is currently looking after Administrative, Technical and financial matters of the Institute. Besides, he is heading the Biochemistry (Pre-clinical) Research laboratory & Zebrafish facility at RARI, Gwalior. Further, he looks after Pathology & Biochemistry (Clinical) laboratory of the Institute where he serves as NABL M(EL)T Quality Manager for clinical investigations.
He completed his M.Sc. (Biochemistry) from Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, Gwalior and Ph.D. (Biochemistry) degree from CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Lucknow and Department of Biochemistry, University of Lucknow, Lucknow. His PhD thesis title was “Developing cell and drug target-based assays for evaluating plant compounds for antimalarial properties”.
He started his career as Research Associate and Sr. Research Fellow in ICAR-sponsored research projects at ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal. Later, he joined as Technical Assistant at Molecular Bioprospection Dept. (Biotechnology Division), CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal & aromatic Plants, Lucknow where he exposed to tools & techniques of Bio-prospection of plant resources for anti-malarial and anti-cancer drug discovery using in-vitro & in-vivo studies and mass spectrometry (MALDI)-based proteomics.
He joined the Central Council for Research inAyurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush in the year 2012, as Research Officer (Biochemistry)at Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Mumbai. He has served as Assistant Director/Research Officer (Biochemistry) at various peripheral Institutes of CCRAS i.e. CARI Mumbai, RARI Pune, CARI Kolkata and RARI Gwalior. Besides, he has been serving as Assistant Director, Institute In-charge at RARI Gwalior since April, 2024.
He has been actively involved in IMR/Collaborative Research projects as Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator. He has completed 06 research projects and currently having 02 on-going research projects. His current research interest is toxicological and pharmacological evaluation of Ayurvedic drugs / plants using in-vivo zebrafish embryo/larvae model and in-vitro methods. Further, he has also coordinated a 6-days CME Program for Teachers on Fundamental Research (Sponsored by Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India) at RARI, Pune.
He has published more than 20 research papers in International / National Journals, 03 Book Chapters in National/International Books. Additionally, he has also presented scientific papers in Seminar/Conferences. He has also supervised several PG/ M.Sc. students for their dissertation thesis.
He is also Life member of several scientific societies viz. Society of Biological Chemist, India, Proteomics Society, India, Society for Conservation of Domestic Animal Biodiversity (SOCDAB), India and World Ayurveda Foundation, India.
