Dr G. Kusuma

Dr. G. Kusuma completed a B.A.M.S. degree from NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, in 1997. Later pursued postgraduate studies at the prestigious Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, earning an M.D. (Ay.) in 2000 with a specialisation in Dravyaguna (Ayurvedic Pharmacology). further advanced academic career by obtaining a PhD in Dravyaguna from BHU in 2005. From January 2004 to December 2005, served as a faculty member in the Department of Dravyaguna at Gomantak Ayurveda College, Goa. In January 2006, she joined the National Research Institute of Panchakarma, Cheruthuruthy, Kerala, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, as a Research Officer (Ayurveda). Since 2010, has been serving at the Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Chennai, as a Research Officer (Ay.)/Scientist – IV, and actively involved in Ayurvedic drug research and development. So far, completed 7 Intramural Research Projects as Principal and Co-Investigator funded by Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences under M/o AYUSH and 1 Extramural Research Project funded by National Innovation Foundation under Dept. of Science & Technology. And involved as Co-investigator in 9 Intra-Mural Research Projects, which are ongoing. Research areas of interest are Medicinal Ethno-Botanical Survey, Extra pharmacopoeial drugs, Developing SOPs for different Ayurvedic formulations and their Pharmacodynamics. Through research, published 1 Book and 29 research articles in various National & International Journals and 1 Manual, 3 technical reports and participated in more than 108 conferences and presented as a resource person in 23 scientific gatherings. And got copyright for one of the IMR Projects. And is a life member of the Indian Science Congress, a member of the Society of Pharmcovigilance and the Society for Ethnopharmacology.
