Dr. Goli Penchala Prasad currently serves as Assistant Director in charge at the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, in New Delhi. He graduated with a BAMS from Sri Venkateswara Ayurvedic College, Tirupati 1996. He earned his M.D. (Ayurveda) in Dravyaguna from the faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. in 1999. He was also conferred with a PhD (Ayurveda Vidyavaridhi) in Dravyaguna (Kayachikitsa) from Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, in 2013. He also completed CCYP and Dip Yoga from BHU, Varanasi, and Completed MA Sanskrit from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad.
He has one year and three months of academic career (from Aug 1999-Oct 2000). He worked as a Lecturer and was the head of the department at SDM Ayurvedic College, Hassan
He joined as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at the Regional Research Institute, Nagapur, in Oct 2000 and served till July 2003. He was in charge of the Tribal health care research programme, IPD and OPD. He has worked on many clinical research programmes like Amavata (Rheumatoid arthritis), Pkashaghata (hemiplegia), Vyanabal Vaishamya (hypertension), Vishamajvara (Malaria) etc. He Participated in a Medico ethnobotanical tour to the Allapalli forest division and published data in JDRAS.
From July 2003 to June 2009, he worked as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at Regional Ayurvedic Research Institute, Vijayawada. As an Investigator, he dealt with the project Sleepada (Filariasis), and as a co-investigator, he dealt with the projects Amavata (Rheumatoid arthritis) and Parinamasula (Duodenal ulcer) and Multicentric open Clinical trial on Annabedhi Chenduram in Iron Deficiency Anemia. He worked as Technical in-charge and Nodal officer.
From June 2009 to March 2015, he worked as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad. As a co-investigator, dealt with the projects 1. “Collection & Digitization of Medical Manuscripts from South India, Maharashtra & Madhya Pradesh (CDMM)”; 2. “DRAVYA and 3. NCDA. AS a Main author worked in 1. “Translation of “Vaidya Vallabha Manuscript; 2. Exploration of Veterinary practices in Ayurveda”; 3. “Devanagari transcription & Sanskrit to English translation of Dravyaguna Shatashloki. Worked as Attendance in-charge and in-charge for museum and Artist.
From March 2015 to July 2017, worked as a Research officer (Ayurveda) at the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Skin Disorders, Vijayawada. 1. As a PI, worked in the Ayurveda Mobile Health Care Research Programme under the scheduled caste sub-plan; 2. Tribal Health care Research programme under tribal sub-plan; 3. dealt the project “Clinical evaluation of Laksha Guggulu and Mukta Sukti Bhasma in the management of Osteopenia/ Osteoporosis”; As Co-PI initiated the project “Clinical Evaluation of Kantakaryavaleha and Eladi Gutika in the Management of Mild Stable Bronchial Asthma (Tamaka Shwasa)”; initiated “Multicentric collaborative placebo-controlled study on clinical evaluation of Ayush-SL in chronic filarial lymphoedema in patients receiving Mass Drug 5. Worked as Attendance, drug and Diet in-charge.

As Co-PI deal it with projects 1. Medico ethnobotanical survey of unexplored pockets from Jawhar, Shahpur divisions of Thane Forest circle of Maharashtra state; 2. Development of in vitro and in vivo propagation protocol of two important medicinal plants used by the tribal.; 3.Systematic Review on the efficacy of Ayurveda interventions in Bronchial Asthma”; 4.An exploratory study of cellular and nuclear entry of Bhasma/Rasakalpas; 5. Exploration of Medhya properties (neuroprotective effect) of Yastimadhu (Glycyrrhizaglabra L.), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Vacha (Acorus calamus) in animal model of neurotoxicity:6.“Pharmacognostical evaluation of Medicinal Plants cited in Ayurvedic F As Head of the institution monitored formulary of India excluding the plants mentioned in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India.
As Head of the institution and DDO, monitored all Admin, accounts and establishment activities and all technical projects of Botany, Tissue culture, Pharmacognosy, pharmacology, animal pathology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Ayurvedic projects.
He worked as a research officer from 15-10-2017 to 01-11-2017 and as assistant director from 02-11-2017 to 10-04-2018 at the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad. He has worked as assistant director in charge from 24-11-2020 to date.

Dr. Prasad has published nine books, two e-books, and 114 scientific articles in national and international journals with an 11 h index. He is the chief editor of Hindi Pravah magazine and editor of JIMH (Journal of Indian Medical Heritage). He received eight awards. He conducted about 50 workshops, seminars, webinars, and training programmes. He participated in more than 150 workshops, seminars, webinars, and training programmes. On 14-02-2018.
He had given eight radio talks on Ayurveda. He conducted many Medico-historical, Ethnobotanical, and Medicinal plants survey tours. He guided one PhD scholar.
International Assignments(s):
He gave a lecture on “Ayurveda for healthy living: An Indian holistic way of life.” at Tajik National University, Dushanbe, (Tajikistan) under the topic lecture on Indian traditional medicine: An Introduction”.
Awards:
Received young scientist award on 28-10-2016 from CCRAS, Ministry of AYUSH Govt. of India and cash prize of Rs 200000 on the occasion of celebration of first National Ayurveda Day being celebrated on Dhanvantari jayanthy at Mavlankar auditorium, constitution club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi.
