Academic Background

Dr. Hemanta Panigrahi graduated from Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Puri, Odisha (1988–1994). He pursued his M.D. (Ay) in Shalya Tantra (1998) and Ph.D. (Ay) in Shalya Tantra (2004) from the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has a total of 10 years of teaching experience and 20 years of clinical research experience. He previously worked as a Lecturer at A&U Tibbia College, Govt. of NCT Delhi, and joined the CCRAS in 2006 as a Research Officer (Ayurveda). Currently, he is working as Assistant Director Incharge of CARI, Delhi.

His research primarily focuses on Clinical Research, particularly in Kshara Sutra and Leech Therapy. He has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as IIT Delhi and AIIMS New Delhi, completing various joint projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator. He has authored 5 books with reputed publishers and contributed 4 chapters to the Textbook of Shalya Tantra (Vols. 1 & 2), published by CCRAS, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India.

Research Contributions

Dr. Hemanta Panigrahi has published 102 research papers in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. He is indexed as an active reviewer and domain expert for biomedical journals, regularly evaluating international integrative medicine protocols. He has presented papers as well as delivered guest lectures at numerous national and international conferences. He has attended over 150 training programs and conferences to date. Additionally, he serves as an external examiner across 11 medical institutions (and external paper setter for 11 universities).

To date, he has treated at least 100,000 patients suffering from various anorectal diseases. His clinical expertise lies in Kshara Sutra therapy for complicated anorectal conditions and Leech Therapy for chronic non-healing ulcers.
