RARI, Gangtok Dr. Jagdish Chandra Arya is currently serving as a Research Officer (Botany) at Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, and Government of India. He holds a Ph.D. in Botany from Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand. He has been serving as a Research Officer in Botany for over 20 years. As a Plant Taxonomist and Ethnobotanist, he has extensively explored the Western, Central, and Sikkim Himalayan regions through systematic surveys and documentation of medicinal plants. He has published more than 20 research papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and authored three books. In addition, he has contributed chapters and technical articles to several books, compendiums, and publications brought out by various organizations from time to time. As a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, he has successfully handled and executed numerous research projects related to plant diversity, taxonomy, ethnobotany, and medicinal plant conservation. During his service tenure, he has also been entrusted with administrative and establishment responsibilities and has effectively supervised the Rajbhasha (Hindi) Section as an officer. His contributions to botanical research, scientific publications, project management, and institutional administration reflect his extensive experience and commitment to the advancement of plant sciences.
