Dr K.M. Pratap Shankar is currently working as Research Officer (Ay.) at National Ayurveda Research Institute for Panchakarma, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. He is involved in the institute’s clinical services, clinical research, and training programs.
He has completed B.A.M.S. from Dr MGR University of Health Sciences, Tamil Nadu, and M.S. (Salya Tantra – KsharaEvumAnushastra Karma) from Dr NTRUHS, Andhra Pradesh. He has worked as a Medical Officer in Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Salya Tantra, Santhigiri Ayurveda Medical College, Palakkad, Kerala.
He joined CCRAS in 2017 as Research Officer (Ay.) at RARI, Vijayawada. He has undergone multiple capacity building trainings, such as training in research methodology & proposal writing by IIPH, New Delhi & NPTEL ICMR-NIE; Systematic and Meta-analysis from COURSERA & IIPH, New Delhi; Research Capacity Building of Ayush Professionals under Ayush-ICMR collaboration, organised by ICMR-NIE, Chennai. He is one among the 20 Ayush professionals selected by ICMR to undergo the capacity building program – “ICMR-MoA RECAP training program”. He has also completed the one-month Certificate Course in Marma Chikitsa (CCMC) conducted by CCRAS, and presently he is the coordinator of CCMC.
He has been involved in various clinical and documentation projects. He has contributed for ‘Content Development’ and two chapters for the book ‘Marmachikitsa – Basic tenets in Ayurveda and Therapeutic approaches’. He has also worked as Content Developer for ‘Regional Guidelines for Research Methodologies for Traditional Medicine of WHO South East Asia Region’. He has published 31 research papers as Author/co-author in different national and international journals. He is also serving as reviewer for 8 national and international indexed journals. He has participated and presented papers in various national and international seminars.
