Dr. Krishna Kumar V is currently working as Research Officer (Ayurveda) at National Ayurveda Research Institute for Panchakarma, Cheruthuruthy, which is a peripheral institute under Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.His roles and responsibilities mainly include execution of IMR and collaborative projects, mainly related to Ayurveda Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology.
He completed his BAMS with first rank and MS (Ayu) in Shalakya Tantra (Ayurveda Ophthalmology) from Govt. Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram. He pursued Ph.D. (Ayurveda) from Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar (Gujarat).
He started his career as Research Officer (Ayurveda) at Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Eye Diseases, Lucknow in the year 2017, having experience in development of IMR projects related to Age-related Macular Degeneration and collaborative project with King George Medical University, Lucknow related to COVID-19.
He joined the National Ayurveda Research Institute for Panchakarma, Cheruthuruthy in the year 2020. His research focused on collaborative project with Institute for Communicative and Cognitive Neurosciences (ICCONS), Shoranur, related to Ayurvedic management of age-related sensorineural hearing loss.
He is also collaborating with Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam to develop an automatic device for doing topical oil pooling in ears.
He has been actively involved in IMR and collaborative research projects as Principal Investigator / Co-Investigator, with more than 10 completed and more than seven ongoing projects. He has participated in various training programmes including Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis, Good Clinical Practices, Clinical Trials, and Peer Review process. He has also organized NABH and CME programmes.
He has published more than 36 research papers in International and National journals, with 65 citations, h-index of 5 and i10-index of 3. Additionally, he has presented 15 scientific papers in International seminars and conferences and attended more than 20 seminars and workshops.
He is a reviewer for more than six International and National journals and member of Editorial / Advisory Board for two journals. He has reviewed more than 90 research papers in International and National journals. He is a reviewer of CCRAS Programmes like-CCRAS SPARK and PG-STAR. He was also a member of the UG Shalakya syllabus committee formed by NCISM.He has supervised one Ph.D. student. He also holds membership in professional associations including Life Member of the Association of Shalakis and member of Ayurveda Medical Association of India.
