Dr. Kshirod Kumar Ratha is a Research Officer in Ayurveda at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. He serves as the NABH Coordinator, Clinical Researcher, and Member Secretary of the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) at CARI, Bhubaneswar.
Dr. Ratha earned his B.A.M.S. from the Government Ayurvedic College in Balangir, Odisha, in 1996 and his M.D. in Ayurveda from the Institute of Post Graduate Ayurvedic Education & Research (IPGAE&R) at SVSP Hospital, Kolkata, in 2002. He began his career as a lecturer at the Government Ayurveda College in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, before working as a Medical Officer in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, from 2004 to 2009. He then joined the Regional Research Institute of Himalayan Flora, where he conducted research on medicinal plants of the Northwest Himalayas from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2017, he worked at the National Research Institute of Ayurvedic Drug Development in Kolkata, contributing to clinical services, pharmacy management, drug development, and clinical research. Since 2017, he has been at CARI, Bhubaneswar, focusing on clinical research, patient care, and the management of the institute’s herbal garden.
Specializing in Dravyaguna (Ayurvedic pharmacology), Dr. Ratha’s research interests include medicinal plants, Ayurvedic drug development, ethnobotany, clinical trials, and evidence-based medicine. He has undergone advanced training in ethics, NABH accreditation, project management, and research methodology. He has also participated in an international exchange program in Brazil, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
Dr. Ratha is an active member of several professional organizations and a reviewer for numerous peer-reviewed journals. He has been involved in 13 intramural and one extramural research projects and has published over 40 articles in reputable journals. He has also organized various national campaigns, seminars, and workshops.
