Dr. N. Thamizh Selvam, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D. (Biochemistry- Cancer Biology), currently working as Assistant Director- Biochemistry, at National Ayurveda Research Institute for Panchakarma, Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur.

This Institute is one of the premier Institutes in Ayurveda, under Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. 

Dr. Thamizh Selvam has nearly 23 years of Teaching and Research experience in various research organizations including King Nandhivarman College, Thellar (Under University of Madras),  CSIR -Trivandrum, Tamil Nadu Veterinary University, and Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Chennai, and got numerous awards and appreciations for his contributions in the area of Lifesciences.   He is also interested in the area of Public Administration and has PG -Degree in Public Administration from University of Madras, Chennai.

The recently completed research projects are Hypolipidemic studies, Alzheimer’s disease Biomarkers, and Nootropic/Anxiolytic studies of Ayurvedic drugs and formulations.  He has worked as Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator  and Coordinator of several Pre-clinical and Clinical research projects.

He has contributed in 37 nos of Clinical projects, 27 numbers of Pre-Clinical projects, and  5 nos of Central Govt Out -reach projects. 

He has published nearly 85 Research Articles in National and International Journals.  He has published one book and contributed chapters 9 books/monographs.  He has organized number of National and International Conferences.  He has presented papers in 25 national / international conferences, participated in 45 training programs/workshops.  He has given training in Life sciences to students through 28 training programs, and guided 27 students for their PG/ M.Phil dissertation projects.   

He served as resource person, expert, panelist in various capacity building programs and training programs.  He is life member various professional bodies including Indian Science Congress, Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists, LASA etc.  He has contributed as editor and reviewer in various reputed journals and currently as Associate Editor -CCRAS Bulletin. 

He has contributed as Nominee of CCSEA, Govt of India for the IAEC meetings conducted in various organizations.  He served as member Biosafety committee, ICC etc.  Nodal officer for APAR- SPARROW system and e-office initiative of Govt of India.
