Presently working as Deputy Director General, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS),Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, New Delhi, India engaged in formulating, coordinating, implementing and monitoring various research program including, clinical research, drug development, literary research, pharmacology research, phyto-chemical research, medicinal plant research, research oriented public health care program such as THCRP, NPCDCS program etc.He has 23 years of research and teaching experience holding the positions viz. Senior Lecturer and In-charge Principal at Indian Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine and Research (IIAMR) and Sri Krishna Rajendra Ayurvedic Hospital, Bangalore and Assistant Professor at Sri Kala Bhiraveshwara Ayurvedic Medical Collage and Hospital (SKAMC&H), Bangalore, India.
He published 332 research papers in reputed International and National Scientific Journals, Conference Proceedings etc. and authored and edited 119 Books, Monographs and technical reports and also contributed for development of about 14 Policy documents and Guidelines including the national ethical guidelines for biomedical research in human participants published by ICMR and posses 3 patents to his credit. He has honored with 8 awards including dedicated work in the field of Ayurveda by Kesari Maharashtra Trust and NIMI award for excellence in Ayurvedic Shalakya practices by Association Ayurvedic profession of North America etc.
He is investigator and coordinator of several national and international research projects and coordinator for National programs, engaged in formulation, planning, coordination, execution monitoring of Research activities including Collaborative Research, International collaboration, Projects supported by WHO etc. (about 300 research projects). He actively participated in about 50 National, State, district level science exhibitions, elocution, essay writing, and IEC activities conducted by NCERT, SCERT etc. and owned several prices and honors. He served as chairman, expert and member for selection and screening committee for several technical and administrative posts.
He served as a coordinator for Golden Triangle Projects (GTP) a collaborative effort of Ministry of AYUSH, CSIR, BIS and ICMR for Scientific Validation of Ayurveda interventions. He is also heads Project Unit Monitoring (PMU) on COVID-19 research projects set up by Ministry of AYUSH. He is instrumental in conceiving and implementing major integrative research program in RCH in reproductive and child care program, Osteoarthritis in collaboration with ICMR, WHO and foreign university, CHARITE University. He is Involved in major International project such as TKDL in collaboration with CSIR and WIPO, Geneva. He has actively participated in developing standard treatment guideline for select diseases conditions which are very useful for clinical practitioners.
He presented 372 Research papers in National and International Seminars, conferences and delivered guest lecturers, expert in workshops. He served as resource person, expert and panelist in about 140 capacity building programs on Research Methodology, Pharmaco-vigilance etc, for researchers and teaching faculty etc. He is also member in several prestigious national committees set up by Government and other institutions (about 121) and life member of 16 Medical &Scientific and other Societies. Serving as editor, editorial board and advisory committee member for about 10 journal data basis etc. dedicated to clinical research, drug development and history of medicine, besides one of the editorial members of AYUSH Research Portal (web based Research Portal of Ministry of AYUSH).
He also contributed in disseminating the merits of Ayurveda and traditional medicine through 5 television live program by Doordarshan and other agencies and about 10 top popular articles in print and electronic media. He significantly contribution many innovative human resource development and Capacity building program such as formulating and implementing Ph.D fellowship program and designing and implementing of panchakarma courses in the council. It contribution are pivotal in developing various web and electronic portal such as AYUSH research portal, NAMASTE portal, Ayur prakriti web portal , RMIS portal and also implementing HIMS in the council.
He represented India in several International delegations and assignments of Government of India viz. Member-Observer status in 13th Session; IPC(International Patient Classification), Experts Committee, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), United Nations Organization (UNO) Geneva, for TKDL Project, Govt. .of India) 19th -23rdFebruary, 2001; Post Doctorial Fellow, University of California in Los Angeles: (UCLA), School of Medicine, Los Angeles, USA,2004;Member of NIH-USA Delegation(led by Minister of State for Health and family welfare, Govt. of India) nominated by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India for formulating collaborative research strategy : 18th-24th September 2007,Member; Official Team , Dept. AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India to European University of Viadrina, Germany for Setting Ayurvedic Chair: 23rd May, 2011, Member; Official delegation -Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India visited South Africa (Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town) in connection with strengthening the mutual co-operation in Ayurveda, Unani, TSM/ CAM sector, from 15th-19th September 2011; Invited Expert and Speaker in 8th International Traditional and Complementary Medicine(INTRACOM) Conference Traditional and Complementary Medicine Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Malaysia 30th October, 2014 to 2ndNovember, 2014,.Participated as Ayurveda Expert in 31st International Festival ‘Sarajevo Winter 2015-Infenity at Sarajevo – Bosnia from 13th -15th March, 2015, deputed by Ministry of AYUSH- Govt. of India. Ayurveda Expert and Ayurveda Practitioner deputed by Ministry of AYUSH ,Govt. of India in connection with Setting up of Yoga and Traditional Medicine Center, Turkmenistan–Ashgabat 2015 which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh Narandra Modi ji ;Member of official delegation deputed by Ministry of AYUSH- Govt. of India and as invited participant in 17th Annual Oxford International Conference on the Science of Botanicals, organized by National Center for Natural Products Research(NCNPR), School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, OXFORD –Mississippi, USA& Visit to National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR),in connection with Collaboration among AYUSH Research Councils and NCNPR under Indo-US Center for Research in Indian Systems of Medicine (CRISM ) from 3rd to 6th April 2017. Participated member Delegation in 20th International Ayurveda Symposium 2018, Birstein- Germany from 14th to 16th September, 2018,organized by European Academy of Ayurveda, supported by the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt, Germany from Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India; Member of delegation of Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, participated in ‘Ayurveda and the Mind -15th NAMA Annual Conference’ Organized by National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA)-USA at 1440-Multiversity, Scott’s Valley, San Francesco, USA from 26th -28th April 2019.
Visited as an expert along with 6 members delegation from Ministry of AYUSH to participate in first international Yoga and Ayurveda conference in Croatia during 3-6 October 2021. Deputed as a leader of delegation of Ministry of Ayush to participate in the 1st Joint Working Group (JWG) at Brasilia, Brazil from 7th November 2022. Participated WHO ICD-11 Traditional Medicine Chapter Module 2 Alpha draft review meeting at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 16th -18th November 2022.
