Dr. Saroj Kumar Debnath is now posted as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI) in Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. His main responsibilities are implementation of IMR/Outreach /Collaborative projects, treatment of General or Geriatric OPD patients of the Institute and also look into the administrative works of the Institute.
He completed his BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree from the J B Roy State Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata from Calcutta University. He achieved MD degree in Kayachikitsa from the Institute of Post Graduate Ayurvedic Education & Research at Shyamadas Vaidya Shastra Pith, Kolkata under Calcutta University. He also achieved PhD degree in Kayachikitsa from the Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar. He earned PGDYN (Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga & Naturopathy) degree from the Maharshi Patanjali Institute for Yoga Naturopathy Education & Reasearch, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar. He also earned B.Sc. (with Botany honours) degree from the Netaji Shubhas Open University, Kolkata. He successfully completed DDN (Diploma in Diet & Nutrition) course from the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He successfully completed DPYT (Diploma in Physiotherapy & Yogatherapy Technology) course from the Bangiya Binjanan Parishad, Kolkata. He successfully passed Hindi Parangat Examination from Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
He has published more than 40 research papers in National /International Journals and has also published 01 Book. He has presented more than 25 papers in different Seminars/Conferences/Workshops and has participated more than 50 Seminars/Conferences/Workshops. He has got offer as a reviewer from different reputed journals.
He achieved Best Poster Presentation Award provided by Society for Ethnopharmacology, Kolkata, India in the 9th Convention of Society for Ethno pharmacology-INDIA & National Seminar Jointly Organized by School of Natural Product Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and Society for Ethnopharmacology-INDIA, Kolkata. He received Certificate of Appreciation for Best Research Paper on Application of TLC/HPTLC in Pharma, Herbal & Other Chomical Analysis provided by Dr. P. D. Sethi Memorial Annual National Awards committee, Mumbai, India. He had got Award of Contingent Grant to Ph.D. ( Ayurveda) Scholars by Central Council for Research in Ayurveda & Siddha, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
He has worked as a Reporting Officer of the Institute of National Pharmacovigilance Programme for ASU (Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani) Drugs (under CCRAS), Project Coordinator of the Institute for Documentation of reported episodes of prevention/ treatment of Vector borne/ infectious diseases of Ayurveda drugs (Project of CCRAS), and Responsible Officer of the Institute of different Outreach projects (i.e. THCRP, SCSP, SRP). He has successfully completed various IMR Projects and Outreach Projects as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator (CoI). Currently different ongoing projects are continued under his supervision as a PI and CoI.
