Dr. Shakti Bhushan is currently serving as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. His key responsibilities include coordinating IMR/EMR/Collaborative projects, managing hospital duties(OPD & IPD), conducting health camps and contributing to drug development.
Dr. Bhushan completed his B.A.M.S. from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 2015, followed by his M.D. (Ay) in 2018(BHU), and his Ph.D. (BHU), from the same institution in 2023.
He began his career as Medical officer(Ay,UPPSC) in the year 2020 till January 2021, latter he joined as a Research Officer in February 2021 in the Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata, in the same capacity. His research is focused on developing quality standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and pharmacopeial standards for ASU (Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani) drugs. His specific areas of interest include Ayurvedic drug standardization, the development of newer and modified dosage forms, and the formulation of herbomineral drugs targeting learning and memory as well as aphrodisiac effects. He has been actively involved in IMR/EMR/Collaborative research projects, serving as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator. To date, he has completed one project as Principal Investigator and has five ongoing projects.
He has published over 20 research papers in national and international journals and contributed two book chapters to national and international publications. Additionally, he has presented more than 20 scientific papers at international seminars and conferences and has attended over 70 seminars, workshops, conferences, and webinars.
Dr. Bhushan is a reviewer for numerous national and international journals. He serves as an expert member of the Advisory Committee of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, West Bengal, and as a subject expert reviewer for various research initiatives of the council, including the “Studentship Program for Ayurveda Research Ken (SPARK)” and the “Scheme for Training in Ayurveda Research for PG Scholars (PG-STAR)” for Ayurveda postgraduate scholars pursuing their M.D./M.S. (Ayurveda) courses. He is also a lifetime member of Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad.
