Dr. Susmita Roy

Dr. Susmita Roy is currently working as Research Officer (Microbiology) at Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata of Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi. Her roles and responsibilities mainly include determination of microbial load in raw plant products and finished products of IMR/EMR/Collaborative projects, Research activities related to IMR projects on Microbiology.

She completed his M.Sc. (Microbiology) from WBUT (currently MAKAUT, WB) and Ph.D. (Microbiology) degree from University of Calcutta. Her PhD work focused on immunological aspects of Leishmaniasis patients.  She received SERB National Post Doctoral Fellowship for two years and worked on Down syndrome followed by RAship on autoimmune diseases. She has research experience of more than 12 years on bacteriology, parasitology, immunology and molecular biology.

He joined the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush in the year 2021, as Research Officer (Microbiology) at Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI), Chennai. Her research focused on developing quality standards, SOP and determination of Microbial load in plant products. Later, she got transferred to Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata and set-up Microbiology Laboratory as part of the Department of Pathology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. She has applied for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for Microbiological parameters as Technical Manager and the certificate has been approved in September 2023. She is also involved as Infection Control Office of NABH accreditation of the Hospital Section of CARI, Kolkata.

She has been actively involved in IMR/Collaborative Research projects as Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator; on-going: 07 projects.

She has participated in various training program viz NABL Training on ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 etc.

She has published almost 20 research papers in International / National Journals, 01 Book Chapters in National/ International Books. Additionally, she has also presented almost 20 Scientific papers in International Seminar/Conference, attended and organized Seminar/ Conference/ Workshop/ Webinars.

She is reviewer in various International /National Journals She also holds Membership in Associations like Life member of Indian Immunology Society and the Cytometry Society.
