Dr. Vinod Kumar Lavaniya currently serves as a Research Officer (Ayurveda) at the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) Headquarters, under the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, in New Delhi. He earned his BAMS degree in 1997 from SPR Ayurveda College, Sikar, Rajasthan, followed by an M.D. in Samhita from the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, in 2002. He completed his Ph.D. (Ayu.) degree from Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurveda University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in 2010.
With over 20 years of experience in academia and research, Dr. Lavaniya began his career as an Assistant Professor at SKSS Ayurveda College, Sarabha, Ludhiana, Punjab, in 2002. He later worked as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Samhita Department at CDL College of Ayurveda, Jagadhari, Haryana, before joining the Council services in 2009 at NIIMH, Hyderabad. He was subsequently transferred to his current posting at CCRAS Headquarters, New Delhi. Dr. Lavaniya also served as an Associate Professor in the Samhita Department at Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, Dehradun.
His notable achievements include leading over 30 research projects, receiving the Young Scientist Award for literary research in 2018, publishing more than 20 research papers in various journals, and contributing to over 40 books, technical reports, monographs, and compendiums. He has also developed e-books of Ayurvedic Samhitas and contributed to the standardization of Ayurvedic terminology with the World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Lavaniya’s expertise includes translation, editing, digitization, and cataloguing of Ayurvedic manuscripts, making him a valuable asset to the field. He serves as an Associate Editor for two CCRAS journals, JRAS and JIMH.
