| Mr Jishin Prakash T S is working as a Research Assistant (Botany) in the Medicinal Plant Research Section at CCRAS-Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He was born on 28th May 1993. He has completed his B.Sc. in Botany from Nirmalagiri College, Kuthuparamba, Kannur, Kerala, in 2013, and his M.Sc. in Botany from Mahatma Gandhi Govt. Arts College, Mahe, Pondicherry, in 2015. He qualified for the GATE examination in Life Science 2016 and is also a CSIR-UGC NET/JRF qualifier for December 2015, June 2016, and December 2016. He started his teaching career as an FDP Substitute Lecturer at Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam, Kerala, from July 2016 to June 2017, where he supervised dissertations and taught undergraduate and postgraduate students. He joined the Department of Botany, University of Calicut, as a CSIR–JRF PhD Research Scholar from January 2018 to January 2021, focusing on plant tissue culture, molecular techniques, and biochemical evaluation. Since 29th January 2021, he has been serving as a Research Assistant (Botany) at the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Sri Vijaya Puram, involving medicinal plant cultivation research and plant surveys. He received the HC Arya Best Paper award for his research presentation on “Optimisation of callus induction and sequencing of LEA genes from two native rice cultivars of Wayanad” at the XLII All India Botanical Conference, University of Calicut, in 2019. He has co-authored two research articles and one book chapter. Currently, he is involved in three IMR projects as PI (01) and Co-I (02), respectively. |
