About Institute

                Regional Ayurveda Research lnstitute, Mandi, initially started as a survey unit of CCRAS at Joginder Nagar (H.P.) in July, 1970 and upgraded in to Regional Research Centre (Ay.) in 1972. ln 1979, Regional Research Centre (Ay.) was transferred from Joginder Nagar to Mandi and it was upgraded to Regional Research lnstitute (Ay.) Mandi (HP) in 1999. In March, 2018, the institute was shifted from Gandhi Bhawan Mandi to own new building (then partially completed) at Jaral, Pandoh, Mandi. On March 02, 2024, the new institute building, Panchkarma Huts, Yog and Meditation hall was inaugurated by Dr Mahendrabhai Kalubhai Munjpara, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Women & Child Development. The institute received its Ayush Entry Level certification from NABH on March 27, 2024.The Institutional Ethics Committee of this institute has been registered provisionally with Department of Health Research (DHR).

Activities

  1. Status as on July 2024:
  • Effectiveness of Rajapravartini Vati and Sarswatarishta in the dysmenorrhea-A prospective community-based study’ under WCH programme. The study was initiated in October 2023. 51 participants were screened, 46 enrolled, 3 participants dropped out during the study.
  • A Randomized, Placebo controlled, Double-blind clinical study to evaluate the effect of Trikatu in Subclinical Hypothyroidism. Total screened 1244 patients, out of which 76 enrolled & 10 patient’s drop out till date.
  • Documentation and validation of local health traditions, Ethno-medicinal, Ethno Veterinary and dietary practices in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.A preliminary survey was conducted in different regions of Lahaul namely Keylong, Tino, Jispa, Darcha, Udaipur, Tingret village etc. from 22-11-2023 to 26-11-2023 and 21.06.2024 to 29.06.2024. A total of 38 local healers were interviewed to collect and document LHT data. 
  • Development and Digitalization of Authentic Ayurvedic Raw Drugs and Herbarium for Medicinal plants appearing in Ayurvedic Formularies of India in Mandatory Drug Testing Laboratories of CCRAS: Total 24 specified high altitude plants has to be supplied by this institute to the nodal institute, out of which 20 plants has been identified.
  1. Collaborative Project:
    • Efficacy of Ayurveda nutritional supplements and Yoga protocol in the prevention and reduction of the severity of Acute Mountain Sickness: an open-label randomized controlled study. Study started on 18 Apr, 2023 at Nimoo, Leh. Total of 2117 participants were screened and 1660 were enrolled over the period of approx. 06 months. Out of 1660 enrolled participants 1541 completed the study period and 119 were dropout.
    • Collaborative project entitled “Efficacy of Ayurveda regimen (mild purgation and internal oleation) in comparison with Allopathic regimen (Letrozole) along with Yoga module in the management of unexplained and anovulatory female infertility; A randomized controlled trial, in collaboration with SLBSGMC Nerchowk& IIT Mandi, HP.Study initiated screening of participants in July 2023. Total 51 participants have been screened, 19 undergoing screening, 31 enrolled, 6 participants have completed the study and 2 dropped out.
  2. Project completed
  • Women and Child healthcare programme under SCSP. The program was initiated on 04.2023. 215 tours were done. 6946 patients treated. 6337 lab investigations done.
  • Anthology of Survey Outcomes from the Medico Ethno-botanical (MEBS), Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Mandi, HP. The objectives of the study have been completed and the draft of the Monograph have been submitted to CCRAS.
